Vaconcovat, who you may know as the administrator of a rather successful Captain Forever forum, is running a fan video contest. If you create a 1 minute Captain Forever/Successor/Impostor/Jameson related/themed/inspired video that garners the most views, you’ll win three supporter memberships as gifts for friends/family/pets, and possibly have your name appear in Captain Jameson*.
Sounds great, huh? Check here for more details.
Thank you for promoting my games sharing your creative and artistic vision with the world.
<3 Farbs
* Maybe some stations will be named after you? Or perhaps some pilots? I really haven’t figured out the details yet. Most likely I’ll just talk with the winner and we’ll try to figure something out.

Ooh, So I take it these shields are stronger / recharge faster, but aren’t used as a bubble, but an actual directional shield. What are you calling them?
Oh yeah, and thanks for
increasing forum activitypromoting captain Jameson :FThose shields look slightly unwieldy, but seeing as I’m usually barely more than a command module after a particularly difficult Guardian fight, I’d appreciate this kind of large-area-covering defense.
I already found a station named after me, wondered if it was a coincidence =D
No immediate interest in the competition
My video creating skills would not do this great series justice; if I had half decent software I’d give it a go.
I may have a crack in a week or so, v busy atm.
@Jamie – For my trailers so far I’ve used Windows Movie Maker. It comes preinstalled with most Windows operating systems, and though it’s not great it’s good enough to express an idea.
@Jayce – Cool, thanks!
I’ll try give it a go.. it’s just that.. the laziness is great in me.
Weapon idea: Tractor beam. Holds the target in place.
…brain storm… how bout a mass inertia gun that increase the weight of an impacted modules for a period of a couple seconds and for fictions sake it could be based off the same tech as the translocaters.
i could see a successor station module bristling with ramming spikes accelerated then mass multiplied just before impact…. it would be named Mjölnir
Hmmm, perhaps you should have started off easier, like with a Captain Forever/ Firefly crossover fanfic.
sorry farbs, too busy using the browser exploit i found to shadow clone save my ship at docks
Progress report: 75% complete
@mackat – Shh! There are no exploits
@Jamie – awesome, can’t wait to see it.
I was really hoping to get 0.4 out tomorrow, but it’s taking a little longer than expected. Also savegames have started bugging out (in the development build, not in anything released), and I want to make sure I nail that plank down before anything sets sail. I might try for a video or something instead.
I’ve just used 0.3′s footage. Which is just as well really, as I think that all the stuff in Jameson so far is impossible to convey in just 60 seconds. I have a bigger challenge though, as it’s a whole series trailer (because I’m bad at Jameson), so Jameson only gets 15 seconds.
Farbs & Vaconovat! Please excuse my recent absence in the forums. The charger broke for my powerbook and the battery on my asus burnt out. The asus has a warranty, so it’ll be coming back in a couple days. I can’t logon to the forum from my android, which I’m writing this from. I’ll be back as soon as I can.
Man, where did everyone go?
Oh hey, the forums.
@Farbs – I just started playing Captain Jameson, when I first heard of Jameson (long before it came out) I was a bit worried about how the new gameplay would work, but its beyond my wildest dreams. I love you
Wow, been a while since you posted. Is 0.5 going to be released soon?
It has, sorry. Splitting my attention between the blog and the forum and twitter means I don’t post so much here.
0.5 was slowed a lot by me taking holidays and spending a bit of time doing other personal stuff. So far it’s just bugfixes and tweaks, but after spending a bit of time talking with Evan Balster about the design I have a new direction for the immediate future of the game which I’m very excited about. I might put 0.5 out before diving into this new work though, just to give people a new sector to explore. We’ll see.
If 0.6 is going to be in development for a while longer than usual, it might be nice if we could have four or five new sectors to play through. I think the replay value is this game will increase substantially once we’re playing randomly generated maps each time but for now it’s just not all that exciting going through the same map all over again.
